Excellence in Design for Greater Efficiencies (EDGE) is an innovation from the International Finance Corporation (IFC) to help building stakeholders create resource efficient buildings. Through an online assessment tool that can be accessed from a variety of tools, EDGE can also help you to calculate the savings and financing needed to build green buildings.
EDGE helps developers, building owners and investors to carry out environmental and economic impact assessments of any design decision in minutes. EDGE provides data on climatic conditions, usage patterns, technology and typical buildings from more than 170 countries. After entering building data in the EDGE online application, users can see the impact of the building design directly on the environment along with its economic calculations. EDGE will help you to demonstrate the amount of energy and water savings as well as savings in building operational costs.
EDGE can be applied in various types of building such as
residential, hotel, hospital, educational institution, retail and
office. Currently, EDGE has three levels of certification, namely:
• EDGE Certified
• EDGE Advance
• Zero Carbon
EDGE can also be applied to new building or existing building, which every one of them has different certification flow. To know more about these certification flows, please go to this link.
In the process of EDGE Certification, there are several parties that involved in it. In doing the technical aspects of EDGE criteria fulfillment, the building owner can be accompanied by the EDGE Experts, then the building assessment will be done by the EDGE Auditor. To know who are already accredited as EDGE Expert and EDGE Auditor, please go to this link. And if you are interested to be EDGE Expert and/or EDGE Auditor please follow this link.
