Addressing Urban Growth Through Integrated Area Planning
Urban expansion in North Sumatra, particularly in Medan and Deli Serdang, continues to accelerate alongside economic development and housing demand. Rapid urbanization places pressure on water resources, waste management systems, mobility networks, and overall living quality.
GREENSHIP Neighborhood provides a certification framework to assess sustainability performance at the district or township scale. The system evaluates ecological land enhancement, connectivity and accessibility, water and waste management, community wellbeing strategies, and energy efficiency within buildings.

Strengthening Sustainable Township Standards in Indonesia
Through GREENSHIP Neighborhood certification, GBCI advances sustainable district development standards at the national level. The framework ensures that area development prioritizes environmental quality, resource efficiency, and community wellbeing alongside physical construction.
The achievement of GREENSHIP Neighborhood Gold certification by Royal Botanica Park Sumatera demonstrates that urban growth can align with measurable environmental management and responsible long term planning.
GBCI will continue to promote sustainable neighborhood standards across Indonesia to support urban development that responds to resource constraints and strengthens environmental resilience.
