On Wednesday, 7 August 2024, Green Building Council Indonesia (GBC Indonesia) conduct the launch of its Net Zero Web Application, a digital platform designed to simplify and expedite the process of achieving Net Zero Certification under the GREENSHIP standard, offering a streamlined, more efficient, and accessible solution for developers and industry stakeholders.
The building sector is a significant contributor to global carbon emissions–up to 38%. Recognizing the urgent need to transition to net zero carbon emissions by 2050, GBC Indonesia has been at the forefront of driving net zero building practices in Indonesia. GBC Indonesia took a step forward in 2019 by introducing the GREENSHIP Net Zero certification, followed by the Net Zero Pilot Project in 2021. Notable achievements under this initiative include the Net Zero Ready certification of TK Pahoa in Summarecon Serpong, Tangerang Banten, and Unilever, as well as the Net Zero Fully Certified status for Pertamina Geothermal Energy in Kamojang and the United Tractors Head Office in Jakarta.
Recognizing the challenges associated with the certification process—such as high costs, resource intensity, complex data requirements, and privacy concerns—GBC Indonesia introduced the Net Zero Web Application as a solution for the digital age. This platform is designed to simplify and expedite the certification process, making it more accessible, adaptable, and inclusive.
The Net Zero Application launch, presented by GBC Indonesia’s Chairperson, Mr. Iwan Prijanto, and the Rating Digitalization Project Manager, Ms. Danika Akiko, highlighted the application's detailed features. The platform serves as a one-stop solution for net zero building certification, providing not only certification services but also knowledge, training, and partnership opportunities in a unified interface.
The second key highlight of the event was the presentation of the GREENSHIP Net Zero Training program by Mr. Evian Putra Setiawan, Rating Development & Certification Staff. This program offers foundational, technical, and practical knowledge on net zero building, with a unique focus on case studies presented by industry experts, providing participants hands-on experience in applying net zero principles.
The event also featured a thought-provoking talk show titled “Green Leap: How Net Zero Web Application is Transforming the Developers Industry and Financial Sector.” The discussion, moderated by Prisca Winata, brought together key industry figures including Mr. Mulkan, Head of Fundraising and Service Development Division at BPDLH, and Mr. Ir. Ignesjz Kemalawarta MBA, Advisor to the President Office of Sinarmas Land. The panel explored the crucial role of net zero commitments in shaping the future of both the development and financial sectors, underscoring the importance of this transition.
The event concluded with a warm appreciation expressed to all attendees for their valuable contributions and enthusiastic participation.
The event would not have been possible without the venue provided by Debindo Network.
