Jakarta, August 18th - Green Building Council Indonesia, in collaboration with honoured partners and industry leaders, successfully hosted the "Leadership Course on Net Zero Energy Building & Sustainable Transit-oriented Development" from July 20-22, 2023, in Singapore. This three-day event was a significant move in advancing sustainable urban development practices in Indonesia. Aligning the nation’s commitment to aim net-zero emissions target. 


The main purpose of the event was to offer participants a unique opportunity to explore themselves in the world of net-zero and super-low energy buildings, as well as sustainable transit-oriented development. Experiencing all these within Singapore's well-established urban landscape. Executives and decision-makers were the main target audience, ensuring that the insights gained during the course will be translated into practical and impactful actions within the Indonesian building sector.


Key Event Highlights:


The event brought together an honoured panel of industry leaders and experts, including Iwan Prijanto (Chairperson of Green Building Council Indonesia), Totok Sulistijanto (Core Founder of Green Building Council Indonesia), and Prof. Johannes Widodo (Associate Professor at the National University of Singapore). Their guidance and expertise provided participants with a comprehensive understanding of the principles and practices of net-zero energy building and sustainable transit-oriented development.


Participants were fully engaged in an inclusive program which includes lectures and site visits. The course provided insights into strategies for implementing net-zero energy buildings in tropical climates, addressing challenges related to energy consumption while ensuring optimal occupant comfort. Site visits to four prominent net-zero and super-low energy buildings, including the National University of SingaporeSingapore Management UniversitySurbana Jurong Campus, and Schneider East Asia and Japan Headquarters, allowed participants to witness first-hand the successful integration of sustainable technologies.


Additionally, through our honourable collaboration with Dex Urban Solutionparticipants explored sustainable transit-oriented development through visits to key Singapore MRT stations, gaining invaluable insights into city planning that emphasizes efficient public transportation systems and urban integration.

After the course ended, participants left with a complete set of tools, strategies, and ideas to put into action for net-zero buildings and sustainable transit-oriented development in Indonesia. The event facilitated networking and collaboration among professionals, policymakers, academics, and industry representatives, encouraging continues discussions and knowledge exchange.
