UOB Plaza is a long-operating office building located in M.H. Thamrin Road, Jakarta. In January 2026, the building achieved Gold in the GREENSHIP Existing Building v1.1 certification, recognizing consistent improvements in building performance through structured and measurable management practices.

On 15 January 2026, Green Building Council Indonesia (GBCI) awarded UOB Plaza the GREENSHIP Existing Building v1.1 certification. The commercial office building in Jakarta achieved a Gold rank with a total score of 73 points, reflecting consistent performance improvements through structured and measurable management practices.

The certificate was received by Harapman Kasan, Wholesale Banking Director of UOB Indonesia, accompanied by the management team of UOB Indonesia and UOB Property. The award was presented by Iparman Oesman, General Secretary of GBCI, together with representatives from PT Sertifikasi Bangunan Hijau as the independent certification body.

The building sector accounts for a significant share of global energy consumption and carbon emissions. In Indonesia, much of today’s office and business activity still takes place in existing buildings that have been operating for many years. Improving the performance of these buildings is therefore a critical pathway to reducing emissions and using natural resources more wisely. UOB Plaza, which has been in operation for 19 years, demonstrates that existing office buildings can continue to adapt through responsible and performance-based management.

”Existing buildings play an important role in Indonesia’s climate agenda. How buildings are managed directly affects energy consumption, indoor environmental quality, and resource use. We encourage building owners and managers to improve performance in a measurable and sustainable way,” said Iparman Oesman, General Secretary of Green Building Council Indonesia.

Through the GREENSHIP certification system, GBCI promotes continuous improvement across the building sector, covering energy efficiency, water efficiency, building environmental management, and indoor health and comfort. This approach supports Indonesia’s national sustainable development priorities and its commitment to achieve Net Zero Emissions by 2060.

After nearly two decades of operation, UOB Plaza’s achievement shows that building age does not limit its contribution to sustainability efforts. The certification highlights the role of existing buildings in long-term climate action and reinforces GBCI’s continued advocacy for higher performance standards across Indonesia’s built environment.
