Batang Integrated Industrial Zone (KIT Batang) has obtained a GREENSHIP Neighborhood Plan certificate with a Platinum rank from the Green Building Council Indonesia (GBC Indonesia). This impressive achievement surpassed the minimum requirement of 64 points, achieving 77 points. This milestone sets a benchmark for industrial areas adopting the smart and sustainable industrial estate concept, housing tenants with advanced industrial technology. The certificate was handed over by GBC Indonesia Chairman, Mr. Iwan Prijanto, to the President Director of PT KITB, Mr. Ngurah Wirawan, on July 25, 2024.

KIT Batang, covering 4,700 hectares, aims to be Indonesia’s first highly competitive and environmentally friendly city. It features a strong supply chain, a solid market, and advanced production capabilities, all based on a clear strategic vision, a strong mission, and noble values.

KIT Batang is planned as a comprehensive city with a new paradigm that integrates and prioritizes public transportation. All residents are expected to rely on public transportation as their primary means of mobility. The transportation infrastructure includes electric buses and cars, aiming to achieve zero emissions within the area. This commitment is highly commendable.

Additionally, KIT Batang’s innovative vertical residential design enables the development of extensive green open spaces, covering almost 55% of the total area. This approach, which integrates high-rise living with vast green areas, is rare and not found in other industrial zones. It highlights KIT Batang’s commitment to sustainability by prioritizing green space for recreation and environmental health, setting a new standard for industrial area planning.

Mr. Wirawan emphasized that the certification of the plan for Kit Batang is a significant encouragement for pursuing their grand vision. Although only the plan has been certified, it will serve as a valuable guide for future generations. He emphasized the importance of adhering to the plan or design guide from the beginning of city planning. Consistency and integrity in maintaining the spirit of the area are paramount.

Mr. Wirawan also expressed confidence in the younger generation’s ability to advance and prioritize a well-designed plan. He highlighted the innovative ideas of electric vehicles, residential buildings within 500 meters of each factory, and other concepts proposed by the younger generation. His role, he stated, is to continue encouraging and motivating them.

KIT Batang is designed with a green industrial concept, utilizing renewable energy and sustainable water management. It promotes employee well-being through an electric vehicle-based transportation system and incorporates advanced technology and digital solutions for efficient, eco-friendly urban management.

This integrated industrial area is a leading example in Indonesia, demonstrating readiness to contribute to combating climate change. This commitment reflects not only efforts to create a sustainable area but also a concrete step in supporting the government's zero emissions target. KIT Batang’s achievements serve as an inspiration for other industrial areas in Indonesia, positively impacting the environment and surrounding communities.

“No matter how great our achievements are, if we do not transform society and the city’s residents, it is all in vain,” Mr. Ngurah Wirawan concluded.
